Ada berita terbaru nih Gan..... Microsoft dikabarkan tengah mempersiapkan sebuah versi Office untuk tablet komputer Apple yang sangat populer. Seperti diketahui, raksasa software dunia itu sudah lama membuat Office for Mac dan sangat akrab di kalangan pengguna fanatik Macintosh. Di sisi lain, meski iPad memiliki fungsionalitas yang jauh lebih terbatas dibanding PC, namun permintaan perangkat tersebut sangat tinggi.

Jika iPad dianggap sebagai salah satu model komputer jinjing, Apple dipastikan akan menjadi produsen komputer terbesar di Amerika Serikat. Apalagi, saat ini iPad juga sudah mengalir deras ke segmen enterprise, jauh lebih pesat dibandingkan produk-produk Apple terdahulu. Ini membuat Microsoft tak bisa tinggal diam.

Dikutip dari The Daily, Kamis 1 Desember 2011, iPad sebenarnya sudah mempunyai beberapa software produktivitas dari sejumlah pengembang. Salah satu yang terpopuler adalah aplikasi milik Apple sendiri, yakni iWork yang dipasarkan seharga US$10 atau sekitar Rp90 ribu.

Meski cukup populer, pengguna banyak yang mengeluhkan kompatibilitasnya dengan software Office. Jika Microsoft memang benar-benar akan menghadirkan Office for iPad, pertanyaannya adalah, berapa harga yang akan dipatok untuk produk tersebut.

Microsoft Office sendiri merupakan software yang secara tradisi dipasarkan di harga yang mahal, meski aplikasi itu merupakan aplikasi penting bagi banyak orang. Tetapi, jika Microsoft bisa menyamai harga yang dipatok Apple, yakni US$10 per aplikasi, kemungkinan permintaan akan Office for iPad akan sangat luar biasa.

Microsoft juga bukan pemain baru di platform Apple iOS. Mereka sudah pernah membuat OneNote for iPhone dan juga mempunyai beberapa aplikasi lain di AppStore. Namun, ada masalah lain. Apple mengutip 30 persen dari setiap aplikasi yang terjual di toko online-nya. Belum diketahui apakah Microsoft bersedia berbagi dengan Apple saat mereka menjual software-nya itu.

Sampai saat ini, Microsoft memang belum bersedia mengonfirmasikan informasi yang beredar. Namun, sejumlah kalangan menilai, jika memang benar akan menghadirkan Office for iPad, ini akan menjadi salah satu langkah cerdas oleh Microsoft.
